Buick Service Intervals

Buick service intervals: To help your Buick keep doing its best

When your Buick rolled off the assembly line, it was built with precision parts that were designed to help your Buick run well and give you the performance you expect. But in order for your Buick to live up to your expectations, it needs some help from you. We're talking about regular, factory-recommended service and maintenance. Here are examples of the kinds of essential maintenance that helps your Buick perform better.

Every 7,500 to 10,000 miles: Oil change

As you probably know, the most fundamental building block for properly maintaining your Buick is a regularly-scheduled oil change. Since your engine is usually the most expensive major part of your Buick, keeping that engine in good condition is your highest maintenance priority. That's why Buick recommends an engine oil change every 7,500 to 10,000 miles. If you do a lot of stop-and-go driving, oil changes might need to happen more often.

Other maintenance at 7,500 to 10,000 miles

Every time you do an oil change, it's wise to have us do other essential maintenance for your Buick at Jim Schmidt Chevrolet Buick of Delphos. One important task is to have us rotate your tires to help your tires wear more evenly. That's also when we can lubricate the suspension. In addition, we'll be happy to examine the condition of your tires and brakes for the sake of your safety. We can also inspect and clean your battery.

Every 15,000 miles

In addition to an engine oil and filter change - plus the other maintenance items mentioned for 7,500 to 10,000 miles - the 15,000-mile mark is a good time for us to check and usually replace your windshield wiper blades. Having wiper blades that function well is more than just a convenience. In the kinds of heavy rain storms we sometimes get around Van Wert or Lima OH, clear windshield visibility can be a vital safety factor.

30,000-mile service

The 30,000-mile checkpoint is a time when we can do most of the same things we did for you at 15,000 miles, including an engine oil and filter change plus a tire rotation. In addition, this is the time when we can check all your key fluid levels and top them off where needed. Other maintenance services we can provide our Delphos, OH customers include a check of your brake pads, along with a check of your suspension, shocks and fuel filter.

60,000-mile service

As you would expect, this is the point when we can do many of the same services and component checks that we typically do at 30,000 miles. On that list will be an oil and filter change and a tire rotation. But it's worth noting that 60,000 miles is a major milestone when you'll want to have us do quite a few other essential services. We won't try to list them all here, but some good examples are the following:

  • Battery check, where we'll also clean your cables and terminals
  • Brake check, including brake shoes, pads and rotors
  • Replacement of your radiator coolant
  • Checking for wear on belts and hoses, and replacement if needed
